New Babtec and binner IMS Cooperation: Successfully Integrating Process And Quality Management Systems

Ideally, consistent process definition and continuous improvement should permeate the whole company. The reality usually looks different: those software solutions which support such tasks are often isolated applications. The future of industrial software, however, lies in integration – from management level down to quality-related and operative processes.

Renowned CAQ specialist Babtec and the binner IMS GmbH as one of the leading process management software suppliers have recently launched a cooperation whose scale of integration is to date unique. The goal: using the extensive synergies between database-supported process and quality management systems more efficiently. This allows the partners to focus on their respective competences rather than create competition through expensive in-house development.

The core competence of binner IMS lies in the organization, design and publication of business processes at the management level. On the other hand, Babtec mainly supports the operative handling and hands-on optimization of these processes in all quality-related areas. In the interplay between the binner IMS product sycat and BabtecCAQ, the user can continuously detect, refine and implement improvement potentials to minimize waste and failure risks – including workflows, automatic distribution of tasks and schedule tracking. This closes the control loop to a fully integrated management system.

The market trend is clear: the software solutions in demand should be offered by experienced suppliers who have established themselves as experts in their respective fields. Software systems of related areas should be able to connect. Software suppliers who want to concentrate on their core competences are therefore prone to rely on cooperation with other expert suppliers.

This is why users of the products from Babtec and binner IMS benefit from the knowledge and the competence of two specialists. The integration routines for both systems do not only exchange raw data – they supply automatisms for context-sensitive subsequent processing. In audit management, for instance, there is already an interface well-tested by both specialists, intelligently exchanging process and audit data between sycat (process modeling) and BabtecCAQ (audit management).

The conception of this cooperation was fueled by the customers of the two companies. Users who worked with either sycat or BabtecCAQ asked their respective supplier for an enhancement of their systems in order to also support the areas of quality or process management. They wanted well-tried solutions, and thus binner IMS and Babtec now offer their users not only the most competent, but also the most economical solution.
